Falling down stairs is not as fun as it seems.

So yesterday I fell down the stairs. Again. I have the horrible habit of falling down the stairs. It's one of those things in life that I absolutely loathe. Here's a list of things I loathe about stairs. Ready?
1. Falling down the stairs.
2. Hitting my head on the stairs and getting a concussion (happened last year about this time).
3. Wearing socks on the stairs. It never, ever, ever ends well for me.
4. Hitting my side on the stairs.
So, I managed to accomplish numbers 1, 3, & 4. I'm extremely happy that I didn't hit my head on the stairs this time. Concussions are not a fun time. I hit the left side of my body walking down the stairs. I have 3 levels in my house: an Upstairs where the stairs are carpeted and a Basement where there are wooden stairs. I've fallen on both of them, always whilst wearing socks. This time, I was going down the wooden stairs (the more dangerous ones) and I fell on the second half of the stairs. I thought that I hit my spine (which terrified me because of the way I landed, I could've really injured myself-hospital kind of injury) but I ended up hitting the lower-back to thigh area on my left side. Can you say painful, because I can. It really hurt. And literally 5 minutes later I had to be driving to youth group.
It's safe to say that the only thing hurting is the side and that I have a really big bruise. Not a wimpy bruise, I mean an epic, black and blue bruise. It's okay. Pain comes and go, and such is life. I press on. I just really don't want to fall down my stairs again. I won't be wearing socks around the house any time soon. And that's really difficult for me, for I really love my argyle socks. And knee-highs. How about them argyle knee-highs? Huh? Huh. Nobody understands me...

  1. OUCH! Sounds like a kidney punch. They are illegal in boxing you know.

Anyhow, how about some of those bootie / slipper things with the fur lining and a nice rubber sole? Some sort of corrective action seems needed here. Good Luck!
